Student Leadership
James Cook Boys Technology High School has a strong tradition of providing opportunities to students in leadership roles within the school and across the broader community. There have been many notable students who have graduated from JCBTHS that hold significant leadership roles in our local community. These former students play a significant role in inspiring our current SRC to strive to achieve their best when they visit our school.
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) is well represented with students from Year 7 to Year 12. SRC elections occur early each year allowing students in each cohort to elect their representatives. It is a prerequisite for students seeking nominations to hold a School Captains position or Prefect position in Year 12 to be part of the SRC in Year 10.
SRC are provided with opportunities to work with external community organisations and attend leadership excursions and special events to develop their leadership capacity.
SRC members meet every fortnight to plan and discuss upcoming events and organise future activities. The SRC work directly with the Principal and Deputy Principal to support and promote the school and participate in community events.
The SRC hold termly morning teas to present ideas to each other and meet other SRC members from the Kogarah Cluster of secondary schools which include Moorefield Girls, Kogarah High School, St George Girls, Sydney Tech High School and Blakehurst High School.
SRC members have the opportunity to attended SRC induction ceremonies, Prefect Inductions and School Captain inductions ceremonies with former leaders from our school community.
SRC is great opportunity for students to develop their leadership skills and forge a strong sense of belonging to the school community.
