James Cook Boys Technology High School is a proud member of the Bay Side Learning Community (BLC).
The BLC consists of two secondary and five primary schools that strategically work together to improve teacher practice and supports the academic and wellbeing needs of students transitioning from primary to secondary school.
The BLC includes:
- Carlton South Public School
- Brighton Le Sands Public School
- Ramsgate Public School
- Arncliffe Public School
- Rockdale Public School
- Moorefield Girls High School
The BLC actively engage in activities to ensure that our teachers, parents and students know each other and develop a shared understanding of the learning that is taking place across both primary schools and high school. The schools invite parents, students and staff to important activities of each school, enhancing the connections across the schools. The Principals and executive, classroom teachers and P&C members meet to ensure that these connections foster the success of all our students, with a particular focus on supporting learning and improving student learning outcomes.
This is a well-developed partnership involving all participants of the school community to enhance learning opportunities and experiences of our students as they transition from primary school to high school. Activities that are included in the BLC are: Numeracy and Literacy Projects, Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) programs, STEM Roadshow, Sports programs, Good Man program, Robotics Transition program, Dragon Gala Touch Day, Bayside Teachers Professional Learning Days, High School visits and Orientation days.
