Table Tennis Knockout Competition

Recently five students, Matt Oberg, Seth Jones, Kenny Wong, Dion Paraskevopoulos and Justin del Prado from James Cook attended a regional knock out Table Tennis competition at Homebush. Below is a brief summary of the competition as written by Year 10 student Justin del Prado.

On the 6th of June, there was a table tennis knockout competition in Homebush. Matt Oberg, Seth Jones, Kenny Wong, Dion Paraskevopoulos and I (Justin del Prado) were privileged to join the other schools and compete. We arrived at Olympic Park at 8am, and the competition started at 8:30, there were about 16 schools competing for the state regionals and about four rounds to reach the finals. We won all matches with the score of 4-2 each except for our final match, which we unfortunately lost. We competed first against Blakehurst then St George Girls and Rosebury high. It certainly was a challenge and we were humble with each victory. After defeating the three schools, we had a half an hour break where we ate our lunch and prepared ourselves for the next and most import final match.  As soon as we reached the finals against Sydney Boys, we lost 6-0. They were spectacular and outplayed us all but we were graceful in defeat as it was our first time reaching the finals, and is an achievement for ourselves and most especially for our school.

The boys performed incredibly well and the school community would like to congratulate them on reaching the final of this very prestigious tournament.
