Message from Mr Marciniak - Principal

I would like to introduce myself to the parents and the broader community in which James Cook Boys High School plays an important role in educating and developing young boys into confident, knowledgeable, successful young men who will positively contribute to the local and broader community.

My previous position was as deputy principal at Granville Boys High School. During that time I was successful in working collaboratively and collegially with students, staff, parents and the community to make significant improvements to the school academically and socially.

I would like to thank the staff and students at James Cook Boys High school for their warm welcome over the last week.  I have been extremely impressed by the professionalism of the staff and their commitment to providing the best learning opportunities for our boys.  During the recent school holidays I was amazed by the amount of staff that was present at the school; facilitating HSC classes, preparing teaching and learning programs and planning for term 4. During my initial discussions with the staff they all mentioned how lovely the boys were and I have to say I am in agreement with them.

Last week the Year 11/12 boys who had been nominated by their cohort delivered their captains speeches on assembly. All the candidates were articulate, confident and showed commitment and leadership to working with the school to uphold it values and traditions. Votes have been counted and the captains and prefects will be notified of the results during week 2.

This term like most terms during the year will be extremely busy with students in years 7-10 working toward their final exams and teachers completing their yearly reports. Timetables and staffing need to be finalised and there are many extracurricular and internal projects running across the school to provide all our students with varied learning opportunities. But of course our primary focus is on teaching and learning and ensuring that all our students are working to their true potential and meeting our educational goals.

I look forward to meeting our 2015 Year 7 cohort and their parents who will be attending our school on Wednesday the 3rdof December for our orientation day. I wish all Year 12 students the best of luck in their HSC exams and hope that they reach their individual educational goals.

Our next P&C meeting is scheduled for Monday 20thOctober at 6pm in the common room where we have a lot to discuss and plan for the remainder of the term.

Mr M Marciniak

Principal
