2016 Peer Support Leaders' camp report. By Nicolas Alvarez, Eric Bahk, Joshua del Prado, Chavez Velasquez and Michael Vrckovski
Our job is to support the year seven in any which way possible. The year sevens were phenomenal during camp displaying active listening and actively learning with each experience. The camp was the first opportunity the peer support leaders spent time with the year sevens, however, you couldn't tell as the communication between us was effortless, creating supportive relationships. We had as much fun as the year sevens during camp, participating in the activities alongside our new James Cook Boys Technology High School students. The camp was based around having a go, some people didn't want to participate in activities initially, but due to the peers working supportively on an individual level everyone participated.
The year sevens and peer support leaders learnt new skills that can be used throughout our lives, like team work, negotiation and problem solving. In conclusion, camp was fun for everybody and we all would do it again if the opportunity arises.
